Pizza Dough

Simple pizza dough base - ready to customise with your preferred method.

Ingredients

  • 375ml warm water
  • 600g flour
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar

Method

  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down dough and divide into 4 equal pieces.
  6. Shape each piece into a ball. Cover and rest for 15 minutes.
  7. Roll or stretch each ball into a pizza base.
  8. Top as desired and bake at 220-250°C for 10-12 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.

Notes

For a crispier crust, use bread flour instead of all-purpose flour.

Dough can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
